Are Dental Implants Permanent?

 In Dental Implants

Dental implants are known as the most reliable solution for replacing missing teeth. Inserted directly into the jawbone, dental implants are able to secure restorations such as crowns and bridges without risk of slipping or falling out. This amazing ability is made possible by the process of osseointegration – the same process that makes dental implants a permanent part of your smile.

If you are missing one or more teeth, please call 503-848-3606 today to schedule a dental implants consultation with Aloha dentist Dr. Michael Negru.

Osseointegration

Osseointegration is the process by which your body accepts an implant as a new tooth root. During this process, osteoblasts and connective tissue attach to small holes on the implant’s surface, securing it into the bone and making it a permanent part of your smile. Once accepted, only trauma or severe gum disease will be able to make the implant fall out.

Dr. Negru recommends brushing after every meal and snack, flossing once or twice a day, and visiting our office every six months for professional cleanings to help ensure the longevity of your implants and the overall health of your smile.
