NEW RISKS LINKED TO GUM DISEASE

A new study conducted at the University at Buffalo’s School of Public Health and Health Professions has found that postmenopausal women with gum disease are 14% more likely to develop breast cancer. This risk increases to 36% in women who have smoked – even in those who quit up to 20 years ago.

The best way to reduce your risks of bacterial infections in the gums impacting the health of the body is through a thorough and consistent oral hygiene routine. Your daily routine should consist of brushing after every meal and snack, and flossing both morning and night. This daily routine should be complemented through biannual visits with Hillsboro family dentist Dr. Michael Negru for complete cleanings and examinations that allow early signs of gum disease to be detected and treated before serious problems arise.

To schedule your next appointment with Dr. Negru, please contact Bright Smile Dental Care today. We welcome patients of all ages from Hillsboro, Aloha, and surrounding areas at our comfortable Beaverton office.
